GABRIELA MADERO
Gaby was raised in Mexico by a French father and a Mexican mother, growing up in a vibrant blend of cultures, languages, and traditions. Her global journey has taken her through France and Ireland before settling in Snohomish, Washington, where she now lives with her family.
Before turning her focus to storytelling, she worked in art preservation, deepening her appreciation for the way creativity connects people across time. Today, she spends her days surrounded by picture books at the local library, where the power of simple stories and beautiful art continues to inspire her.
At home, her life is equally full—with two teenagers, a dog who thinks he’s a cat, a discerning cat who judges everyone’s reading choices, and four remarkably calm fish.
Fun fact: her dog is the main character in one of her picture books—can you guess which one? Her cat also makes a brief cameo in one of her stories (as expected, she's always up to something). And yes, like every kid in the ’80s, she once rocked the iconic bowl cut—thankfully, she chooses her hairstyles now.
